Celine Dion has recorded two songs of her first studio album in four-and-a-half years and hopes to release it in May.
Her husband/manager Rene Angelil, in weekend interviews with Vegas Confidential, said she is scheduled to resume her recording Jan. 31 in Florida and will likely put the finishing touches on the album at the Palms Recording Studios.
One of the songs will be a cover of Janis Ian ‘s “At 17,” which Dion sings in her show at Caesars Palace .
She started recording in November.

Rene Angelil, Dion’s husband and manager, told the Montreal Gazette that the English album will include Dion’s take on Journey’s “Open Arms” and Janis Ian’s “At Seventeen.”

Celine Dion donated a private concert Friday, Dec. 16, to a sell-out audience to benefit the expansion of Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute in Miami.
Dion gave her performance in gratitude to the Institute for the life-saving procedure carried out on her husband, René Angélil, under the leadership of Dr. Barry Katzen, the Institute’s founder and medical director.
“It started a little over two and a half years ago. We had quite a scare. Our family doctors discovered that Rene had a critical narrowing of the artery to his brain, the carotid artery, putting him at a high risk for stroke,” Dion said in a video presented with her husband at the event.
